8 days, one to ten people

 

Day 1: Departure from your nearest airport. Arrival in Algiers and transit for a flight to Djanet. Arrival in Djanet shortly before midnight. Welcome by Tahar and his team with their 4x4 vehicles and transfer to the bivouac.

 

Day 2: After breakfast, departure for the Terarart plain. Short hikes including a visit to two rock formations with particularly beautiful depictions of cattle engraved on them: the weeping cows. Overnight camping nearby.

 

Day 3: Drive and short hike around midday. Visit to Haouat Hill with its numerous animal carvings and ornaments. Return to the foot of the Adjeloho Mountains. Hike along eroded rock sculptures. Visit to the prehistoric burial mound of Tin Amali and the elephant sculpture. Continue to Tisras and overnight camping.

 

Day 4: Drive through the rugged mountains and sandy valleys of the Adrar Adjeloho. Short hikes to some rock paintings and the Imuruden Cave. Lunch break overlooking the dunes of Erg Admer. In the afternoon, see the rock arch of Tikobaouin and more rock paintings. Hike to the keyhole tomb of Ouan Ouraleia. Drive across the plain between the mountains and dunes. Sunset on a dune. Overnight at the foot of a dune.

 

Day 5: Hike along the slope of a dune. You will discover traces of nocturnal animals, find pottery shards, bone fragments, and perhaps stone tools. Continue to the green valley of Essendilene. Bivouac there.

 

Day 6: Hike through a vegetation-covered gorge to the waterhole. Return to the Djanet area. Overnight stay near Timras.

 

Day 7: You will visit the Djanet oasis. At the Sahara Museum, you will learn about the nomadic way of life, the traditions of the Tuareg, the animals and plants of the desert, its prehistory, and its geology. You will visit the El Mihane fortress. Enjoy a walk and lunch in the gardens. Visit the large market hall in Djanet. In the evening, transfer to the airport.

Day 8: Very early morning flight to Algiers, onward flight to the destination airport and return journey home.

 

€900 per participant (round trip only, from/to Djanet Airport). This price increases by 200% for a solo traveler and by 50% per participant for two participants. Minor changes to the itinerary are possible.
